Zyprexa (olanzapine). My husband have bi polar mood disorder. Has be on lithium.?

My husband has be on lithium for years. He now have hyperthyroidism. Consequently he is being weaned of lithium and commenced on Olanzapine 5mg nocte. Is this the correct drug for his disease? Our GP is a nice guy but admit to not much knowledge within that department. Thankyou for any ideas!Zyprexa (olanzapine). My husband have bi polar mood disorder. Has be on lithium.?
Zyprexa is a great medication for bipolar disorder but it have some poor side effects. The biggest one is it can cause closely of weight gain. Somehow the medication change how your body metabalizes food, so even if you eat duplicate, you will still gain weight. It can also impose you to feel hungry adjectives the time, which in turn lead to weight gain. If you are unsure something like this, you need to hold your husband referred to a psychiatrists. GPs are pretty good, but their knowhow is limited and nonspecific compared to a psychiatrist. Good luck with this!
i tried zyprexa for awhile but have to switch back cuz it made me passageway too tired and hungry!!
Maybe but you need to do to your research all right cause some empire may find these drug is working for them and others don't. Everyones is different but Don't lose hope.
